MACDONALD, CAMP DIRECTOR
My wife’s name is Alicia, and we have a little 10 month old
son named Jack and a 2 year old daughter named Afton. I am originally
from Fredericton, NB and Alicia is from Hartland, NB. Alicia and
I started here at Camp T. on September 19, 2005 and it has been
a wonderful time getting to know everyone that has been connected
to this camp over the years. Alicia and I have settled nicely into
our house and we are enjoying the beautiful surroundings of Camp
Tulakadik.

Let me give
you a little background about us. I'll start with Alicia. Alicia
grew up in the hometown of the longest covered bridge in the world
- Hartland. She had the wonderful privilege of growing up as a potato
farmer’s daughter, and she loves potatoes! That's a good thing
because I love them too! Alicia has worked at three different camps
in New Brunswick: Shiktehawk Bible Camp, Edith Lank Memorial Christian
Camp, and Green Hill Lake Camp. She has a passion for camping ministry
and has been a huge support to me as I have taken on this position.
Alicia is a prayer warrior, and is a vital part of the ministry
of Camp Tulakadik. She is also an avid outdoor adventurer, with
plenty of experience in canoe tripping, ice climbing, rock climbing,
hiking and camping. Alicia also has an interest in oversees missions,
and has been on mission trips to Mexico and the Philippines.
Next up is Afton.
I can’t say much about past experiences for her, but I do
know that she has plenty of experience and interest in playing with
toys, sleeping, eating and screaming. Afton is now a walking and
talking machine. She too has an interest in the outdoors, but only
because she has no other choice. She has climbed Mt. Katahdin, canoed
around the Queen Charlotte Islands, paddled the raging whitewater
of the Churchill River, sea kayaked the Passamaquody Bay, and hiked
the beautiful mountains of West Virginia! Her next feat is to plumb
the depths of the Marianas Trench ... maybe we’ll wait a few
years!
Little Jack
is a giggly little kid with lots of joy. He is now beginning to
crawl and loves to eat! Jack is quite an adventurer too with a number
of outtrips under his belt including many river canoe trips and
weeks of camping. He loves to hike too.
As for myself,
I also have a passion for camping ministry. I've worked at 4 different
camps here in New Brunswick: Shiktehawk Bible Camp, Camp Wildwood,
Edith Lank Memorial Christian Camp, and Green Hill Lake Camp. This
summer will be my 12th summer in camp ministry, and it just keeps
getting better! I too have interests and experience in outdoor adventure
sports, more specifically whitewater kayaking, and ice climbing,
and all of the others that Alicia loves and that we enjoy together.
I also am a wood working nut, and love to make canoe paddles. Alicia
will also tell you that I have an addiction to maps. Sounds strange,
I know, but I spend hours just looking at topographical maps dreaming
about some beautiful river, or tier of cliffs off in the deep wilderness,
and planning how I am going to get there.
Alicia and I
met at Shiktehawk Bible Camp and we were married a few years later
- in 2002. Our honeymoon was spent driving out to Briercrest Bible
College in Saskatchewan. We spent 2 ½ years there and Alicia
graduated with a BA in Christian Ministry, and I graduated with
a BA in Outdoor Adventure and Administration. We returned to New
Brunswick in December 2004 and had our first child in February.
We spent the summer at Green Hill Lake Camp where Alicia and Afton
worked in the camp office, and I served as the Associate Program
Director. We had an amazing summer, and soon moved on to Cassidy
Lake to begin our new lives here! We know beyond a shadow of a doubt
that God has placed us here and we have felt so welcomed. Alicia
and I want to see glory given to God through this place, and we
want to serve Him simply because He is worthy.
